Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary – Naples, FL

Raccoon Family | Austin Harvey Photography of Fort Myers and Naples, Florida
The weather wasn’t going to stop me from getting out today. The morning weather said it wasn’t going to rain but that didn’t last long before it was drizzling on us throughout the boardwalk. My friends and I visited the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and were pleasantly surprised by this portal into another world. As soon as our path started on the boardwalk, we were in a totally different world with a large tall cypress tree forest all around us. Within this dense wooded area, I saw a peak of the wildlife here. We saw a family of newborn raccoons with their mother and a few of the native birds here. The two-and-a-half-mile long trail led through three different biomes and each had distinct feelings from the last. I think that this experience was so drastically different because of the weather that morning, had it been clear like I hoped then I don’t think that it would have had the same intentions behind my pictures. I want to go back to this local gem and see if different conditions make a change in what is out and about for us to see.
